I just got back from competing in the 2014 Atlantic Pole Championships which took place in Herndon, VA on April 12-13. As always, I had a blast meeting new people and catching up with old poler friends. I was really excited about my routine. The whole performance concept evolved from the song that I choose: “Slave” by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I donned a Kelly Maglia Couture costume which consisted of a rhinestoned nude top and bottom and black body straps to give it that extra ‘bondage’ look! I also used an actual bondage rope as my prop. I felt a little more prepared this year, now that I had a proper place to actually practice my routine–my own studio. But I was most excited about having some of my students come to watch and cheer me on! That really made the trip! Go studio spinsters!

In a couple of weeks, I’ll be competing again at the 2014 Lehigh Valley Polathon in Allentown! I’ll be performing an entirely new and different piece. It’s a drastic change from what I’m used to doing, so I hope all goes well. Good luck to all the performers! The competition will be held at Chicago Restaurant on Saturday May 17 at 6pm. Tickets are available at Studio Spin for $15. Cash only.
