Are you in a leadership role in a corporate or fast-paced environment where you feel like you have to be tough in order to get respect?  While there might be many reasons that lead a person to being that mean boss at work, I’m wondering if it’s coming from a place of insecurity.

Do you lack confidence in yourself or feel insecure about your position? Could it be that you are trying to hide your self-doubts behind a tough exterior?

I invite you to take a step back and reflect on why you feel like you need to be the mean boss. Is it coming from a place of insecurity? If this is true for you, there are a few things you can do.

• Consider talking to your superior to get clarification on your role.
• Invest in leadership training to strengthen your abilities, so you can lead from an authentic and humble perspective.

You don’t have to be a hard-ass to be respected. Lead with thoughtfulness and strategy.
